Check the value of all items that drop

Classic WoW has a massive amount of materials and items that are used for something. If it has white text it can be quite valuable or vendor trash. To quickly find out you should get an addon that can display the AH value of items in the tooltip. Check any item that drops as some of them are quite valuable.

If you want to grind, do mobs with good drops

Depending on how full the world is grinding can be a good option to get some Experience in. If you do end up doing some grinding sessions pick mobs with good drops. As easly as level 30-35 you can find mobs that drop materials used in end-game relevant potions. Humanoids are also a great go to with cloth and raw currency.

Utilize professions from day 1

Use your professions, and use them early. You can often find ways to level professions for a profit and there are a lot of lower level recipes that are useful. Examples including shuffling cloth into dust, selling various crafted items (+spellpower tailoring gear and weapons being two great options).

Wands, Wands, Wands

The enchanting low level wands are absolutely incredible for anyone leveling a caster. They provide a huge amount of DPS. Craft these and keep them on the AH to get some nice early gold. You can even do it on your bankalt if you bother leveling it to level 5 before running into town.

Get a bank alt

With instant mail being added to classic this time you NEED a bank alt. Level a character to 5 and run it into town. Then mail anything that has value over to that character and post it to the AH. Eventually this will be your hub where you mail all your crafted goods to post and do any other AH based goldmaking as well.

Use cheap consumables to level faster

There are a lot of cheap consumables in the game when players level their professions. Leveling quickly gets you to higher profit potentials, so grab healing potions, and other consumables that may be selling really cheaply to speed up your way to level 60.
