Time to make some gold in Midnight! My approach to Lazy Goldmaking

Midnight is on the close horizon and I’m going to jump in!

Disillusioned

I have not been super active in TWW or Dragonflight, as I have been raiding in Cata and MoP, but I’m diving into midnight head first. I have not had time or the inclination to do heavy beta research, so I’m jumping in sort of blind, but with a lot more interest. I hope to be able to deliver useful tools as I go and get back into the fun of retail goldmaking!

Is Lazy goldmaking dead?

One reason I have not done as much in TWW and DF is that the profession overhaul in Dragonflight killed a lot of the markets I had been most succesful in. Crafted catch up gear for instance has not really been a thing since Shadowlands. In addition profession knowledge HEAVILY favors playing a lot, with tactics like acuity shuffling by swapping professions and an extreme focus on margins with the region wide AH.

The War Within brought it back

To be fair this was a huge issue in Dragonflight, but The War Within changed inspiration to concentration. This meant that we now have access to a lazy goldmaking method again with concentration alt. Once you’ve set your alts up you just have to log in every 2 days to spend concentration and do some weekly chores to unlock knowledge.

So we need to set up

Right now I’m in the process of leveling my characters. I had 8 or 9 concentration alts at the end of TWW, and I’m working on getting them to 80, I’m a little over halfway. I’ll also try to level a couple of more characters and I may buy the epic edition for both my accounts to get another boost each. This would put me at 12 concentration crafters. If concentration values are in the 10-20 gold range which they were at the beginning for many professions that will yield somewhere in the 25-50 000 gold profit per day across my alts.

I’ll probably swap some professions around once we are live, but we’ll see where I can get the right setup easily. I’m coming in semiblind this time which I find a lot more fun than figuring out everything on the beta, even if it does put me at a VERY large disadvantage.

Flipping still exists

Multi realm flipping focusing on cosmetics is still a very good market, but personally I don’t enjoy it much. I won’t be restarting my multi realm flipping setup as I got really burned out on doing it which eventually led to me just not logging in for a long while and losing millions of gold worth of battle pets to AH expirations.

  1. Man, I’m in the same boat. I was having a blast in Shadowlands (from a goblin perspective) and made close to 50 million across the expansion (I’m just on a single realm). The crafting rework just kinda killed all the fun so I’ve been coasting since then. Kinda hoping I can find something engaging to make gold again in Midnight…
