Today we are looking back at another old market that can still be utilized for profit. This time we are again returning to BfA, but this time to craft!
Combatant gear!
The various combatant gear sets from BfA are now quite expensive, but slow sellers. There’s one set for each patch with different looks. Across all the professions that means there’s quite a few recipes to craft. Now BfA recipes had ranks, which generally reduces the crafting cost. For crafted transmog it will usually not matter much, as the profit margin is normally very high anyway. Even on rank 1 recipes many are looking at 20k+ profit. The higher level recipes are purchased for marks of honor, and they will save you a lot of time as they cut the expulsom cost, but outside of that it is not a priority.
Getting the recipes
The rank 1 recipes for each profession are learned from your trainer. Now I think blacksmithing is the best option as you get both weapons and armor, but leatherworking and tailoring can be worth checking out. You also will need tailoring for expulsom, so you will have to get it up anyway.
Expulsom and the scrapper
Now most of these recipes require expulsom, which is a BoP material. You earn it by scrapping items from BfA. The best way has historically been to mass craft tidespray linen bracers and scrap those. On average you need 6 bracers to get one expulsom. You need to send the bracers to the character you want to craft on so you can get the expulsom in the right place. To speed up scrapping you should download the addon Easy Scrap. It will let you pick the item type and automatically fill the UI. The scrapper is in Dazar’alor for horde by the blacksmithing trainer or in Boralus for Alliance in the Tradewinds market.
Expulsom is nice, but sales are slow
Getting enough expulsom to craft everything is quite time consuming, and that is a significant reason why the prices are so high. That being said these are niche transmog options, so the sale rate will be quite low. I think the up front cost is low enough to make this worth it, as the crafting costs are in the 500-1000 gold range, so you aren’t risking that much, and even a single sale will likely make the entire effort profitable.
TSM Settings
To set up TSM you will need to set the value for expulsom. Below is the string I use, simply go to reports → materials on the crafting view and search up expulsom and then you paste the string below.

The TSM group will help you post these to the AH afterwards, we have a very high maximum price threshold as these are so cheap relative to the crafting cost.
