These BfA items are still amazing for gold! Island expedition gold guide!

Some of you have possibly played the game long enough to remember Island Expeditions from Battle for Azeroth. Now the interesting thing about these from a goldmaking perspective is that they drop quite a few different BoE items with cool appearances.

Farming them

Obviously you can farm the island expeditions yourself. You have a small chance of getting items when you complete an expedition, you also get doubloons that you can use to purchase crates that contain items from a specific loot pool from a vendor near the table. If you want to farm them then try to look in LFG to get a group as it is significantly faster than soloing, but you can also just solo them.

Farming has the nice benefit that you can also get mounts and other non-tradeable items for yourself!

Flipping the transmog

My favorite has been flipping the transmog and I did this quite a bit in the past. My biggest success was buying a bunch of transmog at the end of BfA, but even flipping at later times can have very good margins, depending on your realm. You can also improve margins by moving items between realms if you have the patience for it.

Flipping basics

For flipping expedition gear you need to look at multiple aspects of the price. It needs to be cheap relative to the market value on your realm, and you need to see how many items are available. My operation is using the market value to set the maximum purchase price, but you want to compare it to the region market value as well. Items can be moved around so if the realm you play on has prices at or above the region market value you can be undercut by people moving them around. The settings also has a minimum price threshold of 5000 gold, I don’t want to bother with too many items of low value. If you do you can change the 5000g number in the shopping operation circled below to your preferred threshold.

Prioritize the vanity slots

Weapons, shoulders, helmets are the big slots as they are by far the most visible ones on a character. Bracers are significantly worse and you should shy away from them unless they are a really good deal, or you have a lot of gold to invest.

Good deal

Below is an example of a great deal on this spellblade. One available for 10 000 the rest of the market at 70 000 and the market value and region market value are both above 50 000 gold. In general you make your gold in these types of markets when you buy, so if you can find a deal like this every day or every other day you will be in the money eventually.

Stay safe

In general when flipping cosmetics it is good to err on the side of caution. Make sure you have really good upsides, if the price difference between the cheapest and second cheapest is just 50% then you can stay away, as items sell slowly, so it is better to have a larger safety margin. If the second cheapest is double the price you are buying at that can be a good rule of thumb starting out.

VOLUME

This is a volume game, and having one item available for sale will mean everything sells excruciatingly slowly. If you do a shopping scan with my group you will see the same names repeating, that is how you make gold in this market.
