Do this now to prepare for 12.1!

So today I thought I would give some tips for preparing for the eventual 12.1 patch for Midnight.

Wide or deep?

The first question is what approach you want to take, do you want to focus on integrated goldmaking where you craft max level items by crafting every intermediate step or do you want to go the lazy way with concentration crafters.

Integrated crafting: the hyperscaler

Integrated crafting simply means going all in on skill to craft guaranteed max quality items. Usually this market is quite competitive, so you need multiple max skill and epic profession gear crafters to do this. If any crafts require items that are crafted by other professions that will drive profits a lot. If you can do 10 % on every step and you do 5 different steps, then it stacks up quite a bit.

Setup for integrated crafting

To set up integrated crafting you need to figure out what you want to craft first. The top choices are inscription and jewelcrafting as they create materials with prospecting or milling that you use. This adds a lot of intermediate crafts you can utilize. For both of these professions you will need at least two different epic quality tools, either on the same character or on two different ones, one with resourcefulness and one with multicraft. The reason is that prospecting/milling can’t multicraft so you need max resourcefulness for that. Then once you can craft all the max quality items guaranteed at the lowest possible cost you can produce any end item that you have maxed out en masse. Profit margins are usually tight so in most cases you need to be maxed out on every necessary sub activity to see good profits.

Concentration alts: The lazy way

For concentration alts the goal is simply to set up multiple alts with profession builds where you get multicraft and resourcefulness and then use concentration and cheaper tier 1 materials to craft max level stuff. This scales really well with the number of characters you have and the will you have to keep using the concentration.

The setup

Ultimately you just want to get some more alts to level 80 and set them up. As of right now Alchemy is by a very significant margin the best profession for concentration, and it is very cheap to setup as you don’t need to skill up past 25 to learn the best recipes. I’m not sure what the best second profession will be, but tailoring is good for cooldown cloth outside of concentration, or you can go for jewelcrafting or enchanting, which are fairly similar.

Pick an approach and go to work

Now it’s time to pick an approach and go to work. For integrated crafting the main priority is to pick your crafter(s) and start farming abundance events on them so you can get enough fused vitality for all the epic profession gear. This is by far the most important aspect of setting these characters up. You also need to stay on top of all you weekly knowledge gains.
