In Mists each character can get it’s own farm to generate materials on a daily basis. Today we’ll look at how it works!
Available at 85
To unlock the farm you need to do a short questline in Valley of the Four Winds. The quest requires you only to be level 85, so you can set the farm up on any alt. After doing the initial quest line you get access to four plots of land and you can craft vegetables only, which are used in various cooking recipes. If you want to expand your farm and add seeds that give profession materials, including Spirits of Harmony you will have to get to level 90. If you do then you can gain reputation.
Farming
The farm is very simple. You can buy seeds from a vendor in Halfhill, you then plant and water the seeds and tend to them if they have weeds or similar. After that they will grow to maturity after the next daily reset and you can loot them and replant. Once the farm is setup you will be done in a couple of minutes and you can make a good bit. Power Word Gold was able to make about 200 gold per alt per day with just a basic level 85 farm back in original Mists.
Expanding
At level 90 you can start earning reputation and this is where the true value is. At a maxed out 16 slot farm you can grow Spirits of Harmony which will be a major bottleneck for many professions. This will be VERY useful for a lot of max level crafters and you should prioritize getting the farm up and doing the dailies on any level 90s you get early. Do keep in mind that one 16 slot character is better than 4 level 85 alts in terms of efficiency as you don’t have to relog, so if it is feasible for you to level up then prioritize the characters at 90 to unlock bigger farm sizes.
Alt armies?
With alts already looking very good for inscription, alchemy and tailoring cooldowns this is another way to make more gold from all the characters you may have. Getting value from all of them will help you drive more profits into more hands on methods, or if you just prefer the chill of logging in doing a small bit of work and logging out then this is for you.
