Alchemy is back and is looking a little better this time around!

Big changes

There’s one very significant change for alchemists in Mists compared to Cataclysm, and that is the removal of cauldrons. This means that flask demand will be much higher than in Cata and elixir mastery is a lot better than it was. Outside of that the structural format of alchemy is the same as in cata, mastery is still a thing and yields 20% extra on average for the relevant recipe type. Recipes are learned through discoveries, so you can learn all the recipes at level 80 just by crafting.

Getting correct proc pricing

To get the right pricing in TSM you need to add or modify the crafting operation applied to the group of items you have the specialization for. Once you’ce made a crafting operation you need to check Override craft value and then add a factor of 1.2. So simply paste 1.2* at the beginning of the field. This will account for procs and you can see your average profit.

Transmutes

Transmutes include the daily cooldown living steel transmute, transmutes to turn uncommon gems into rare gems by adding a golden lotus and the ability to transmute Ghost Iron bars into Trillium bars. The living steel cooldown is limited in profit, with the main way you profit is by transmuting ghost iron into trillium and then trillium into Living steel and relying on transmute master procs on both steps to drive profits. Overall transmutes are NOT profitable without transmutation mastery. The red gem transmute and potentially the orange one can be profitable if you have a jewelcerafter.

Potions

For potions the top sellers will be the main stat increasing ones. This covers most classes and specs in the game and will get you selling at a good rate. Mogu Power, Jade Sepent and Virmen’s bite are the top three. As of right now they are all very profitable on my realm if you are a potion master, clocking in at around 2 gold profit on a 3-4 gold crafting cost which is in the 50% range. The sale rate should also be quite good.

Flasks

There are no cauldrons in Mists, so flask demand will be a lot higher than in Cataclysm. That being said as of right now the profit margin is on the thin end even if you are an elixir master. I suspect players are buying Golden Lotus with Spirits of Harmony, as that is one of the best exchanges for Spirits to keep their costs down. On my realm you are looking at an 8-12 gold profit over a crafting cost of about 70 gold, which is just 10% profit. That is quite bad and will get eaten by expirations. I would suggest sticking to either transmute or elixir in stead.

Potions or transmutes and go to town

Potion mastery seems like the best mass crafting variant, whereas transmute master is better if you just want some easy gold and want to focus on your other characters.
