The best profession in Mists? Inscription gold guide

Today we will look at the optimal way to make gold with inscription in Mists Classic.

Trainer only

Inscription is in a great spot where all of the currently learnable relevant recipes are trained from your trainer. This makes it a must have as you can put it on any levle 80+ character and get all of the economic benefits.

Daily cooldown and alts

A lot of the value of inscription is the daily cooldown Scroll of Wisdom and the items you can craft with that. This is currently the most valuable daily cooldown in the game, with a value between 1500-2000 depending on darkmoon deck prices and off-hands. In addition you can level inscription for less than 4000 gold, so this is one of the best professions in the game for goldmaking right now.

Using your scrolls

I used my scrolls for darkmoon cards while the first faire was in town, but I have now swapped to saving up to 5 scrolls and doing off-hands, as the faire is not in town. I think both approaches have merit as the decks are still BiS although now that Heart of Fear and Terrrace are opening up there will be better options available. The off-hands are also very good and have been my preferred craft recently.

Shoulder enchants

Shoulder enchants are quite profitable usually. The best bet is to mill Fool’s Cap, on average you will need 37.5 Fool’s Cap per shoulder enchant. You can round it up to 40 to quickly figure out if it’s profitable when looking at the current fool’s cap price. The enchants sell quickly, particularly if you are reposting on raid reset days and on big raid nights when people go to enchant their new shoulders. You can easily sell a stack of 20 just reposting every couple of minutes during peak hours for a little while, so the market is booming.

Glyphs

The new glyphs have mostly been unprofitable so far as players have crafted them in large quantities to level inscription. This might flip eventually. Pricing them depends on you being in a position to also utilise the Starlight Inks you get, but they will probably at least be breaking even as shoulder enchants.
