2 Year Anniversary of the blog!

Today is the the 2 year anniversary of thelazygoldmaker.com!

It’s been an amazingly fun journey!

I know I’ve helped a lot of you get to your first token or your first million or just set a new gold record and I hope to help a lot more!

Taking stock

Today I will take a short look back on what I have done and what I am happy with as well as post some thoughts on the future of the blog. I’ll also show you where the magic happens with some Behind the scenes shots of my computer setup!

There will also be a give-away!

A look back

If you go back and read my first post titled “How to start playing the auction house” you will see I’ve come a long way. The content of the post is still relevant, but the formatting and pacing is just terrible!

I know have a much clearer idea of the purpose of my posts, and I believe it shows.

Statistics

This is going to be a bit of bragging.

The traffic stats for the blog are amazing. Over the last 30 days I’ve had 32000 visitors! My stats for August and September were even higher when the BfA hype was high.

I’ve went from zero to 2300 followers on twitter, and I have 355 patrons on Patreon.

I work hard to give all of you the best content I can, and the amount of support has been incredible from day one!

The highs

My spreadsheets are obviously the most popular thing I have ever made. It has become a household name for many of you and I am really happy it has helped you out. It started as something I just made for myself to figure out how much gold I could make from prospecting felslate, but the scope quickly grew.

My Total Legion Gold Guide has also been extremely popular, and I am planning a similar post for BfA very soon!

The launch of my podcast was also really fun. I don’t really know if I’ve hit my stride there yet, but I definitely feel way more confident talking now than on the first episode! I really want to integrate listener questions in a better way, likely through patreon, so that is on my list. My podcast is now available on spotify, itunes as well as through the RSS-feed.

The lows

I don’t have any particularly bad posts, but all the bugs in the BfA spreadsheet at launch were embarassing. I’m also quite unhappy with how long my challenges have drawn out. I feel like I should have finished my Gold Cap Challenge by now, but I just keep spending gold like a madman.

A look forward

So what is in the future?

I have several ideas of areas I want to expand. I think the blog is in a great place right now and I am very happy with the mix of content I write here.

One of the projects I have been thinking about is to make a play-a-long gold challenge series of videos. I’ve titled my first idea “30 days to a token” and the idea is obviously to give you everything you need to know to go from just a max level character to your first token in a month. I still haven’t figure out distribution, but we’ll see.

I’ll start working on it once I hit 500 Patrons on patreon, so if you want this to happen you know what to do!

Some of my other ideas include:

  • A truly audacious gold making challenge (still just teasing you on this one)
  • A proper gold making video course
  • A more focused, short e-book covering the basics of gold making to quickly help players understand the ideas and implement them

Things I am not planning on doing

Just as in gold making there are some things I have to prioritize away. For me the main thing I have not focused on at all is video production for youtube.

There are a ton of youtubers already. I am personally more of a reader than a video watcher, which is why I write. Outside of making some self contained video courses or challenges I have no plans to make an ongoing youtube channel at this point in time.

Behind the scenes

Some of you may be interested to get a look from behind my desk!

Below you can see my little corner of my apartment. I do everything here, including the blog, podcasts and streaming. The microphone arm along with the microphone is courtesy of my patrons, so thank you for your support!

On the picture below you can see how it looks when I play WoW. The main account is on the left screen in windowed fullscreen mode with my bank account in a much smaller window on my second screen.

The Give-away!

I’ll be giving away 2 Blizzard store mounts. To enter you simply need to leave a comment below where you tell me what the most helpful post I have written was. I’ll draw the winners next Saturday. The give-away is open to NA and EU players only.

Help me improve!

Use your give-away entry to also tell me what you want to see from the blog! Anything in particular you want me to cover, or anything I can improve!

Thank you for being here throughout the first 2 years!

  10. Hey,

I started with this Xpac, and decided on being a goblin for the fun. And your blog has been super helpful to help me in this journey. The most useful post must have been the BFA flipping guide, which help me get started immediately.
    So thank you for that.

For future content, maybe I would like to see more “advanced” techniques, if there is such a thing.

    Happy birthday πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks! I’m definitely planning some more advanced guides, BoE flipping seems to finally have taken off for me, so stay tuned for a guide on that!

  11. Hi !! Happy B !
For me, your best post was clearly the tutoriel for BFA raw mats, selling and auctionning guide.
Now I know where to put my focus on my server, if i’m investing risky or not.

Keep going dude, need now to train on the BoE market, harder I guess !
