30 days to a token: Week 1 Update

I am now seven days into the challenge! It has started quite slow, but I will stick to the methods I’ve used thus far for at least another week and a half.

The Rules

  • 1 character, which is a completely fresh level 120
  • No brutosaur
  • 1 realm obviously
  • I start with 10 711 gold (This is what I got leveling from 110-120 while vendoring every single drop.)
  • I start with level 1 professions
  • I start with the materials I got from leveling 110-120

Statistics

  • Played time: 8 Hours 50 Minutes
  • Liquid Gold: 735 Gold
  • Ah Value: 53 201 Gold
  • Total gold Acquired: 29 829 gold
  • Gold from auctions: 11 314 gold

What did I do?

First things first, I spent all the 10.7k gold I started the challenge with on various materials. I spent most gold on Tidespray Linen to get the enchanting shuffle going.

I have leveled tailoring to 150 and I’ve crafted some Deep Sea bags as well as 6 Sinister Combatant pieces. I’ve also crafted some of the trade skill enhancing enchants from enchanting, mostly the herbalism one.

Outside of the AH I spent the majority of my time doing world quests for emissary caches, in particular the 2000 gold ones as well as to gear my character. My hunter now has item level 325 so I can queue for LFR and kill mobs recently fast when needed.

My gold has fluctuated heavily up and down as expected. Luckily my AH value has been climbing fairly steadily. The second graph below shows the value of my posted auctions. The only real dip was when I reduced the normal posting price on my sinister combatant gear to 200% crafting from 500%.

Sales

Here are the items I’ve sold sorted by per item price. We are missing some materials, but we can see them in the resale summary later.

I have not sold any Sinister combatant gear yet, which is concerning. I’m taking quite a risk trying to do them at all, so hopefully it works.

As we can see from my resale summary I have not sold too many materials of any kind. The best ones as usual have been the meat items, with Stringy loins in particular bringing in a decent number of sales. My enchanting materials don’t show up here though. I have sold 56 Gloom dust and 28 Umbra Shards as well.

Inventory

My inventory is sitting very pretty at 72.5k total value at dbmarket. Some of this is obviously wrong though as I doubt my random green will ever sell for seven thousand or that twenty Dalaran Rice Puddings are worth 9.4k.

I do expect my Sinister combatant pieces to sell, I fervently hope so at least as otherwise they will tank in value when 8.2 rolls around.

  1. Are you aware of a method that makes gold on a realm like Area52? Flask and Pots, if they don’t sell out within a couple hours on Tuesday the price drops so much they are a loss and takes weeks to recover. Material flipping is too erratic to make decent profit. The only food I find that sells is Swamp fish n chips, but it takes so long to sell that it doesn’t even cover my token for the month. Bags barely sell, took me 2 weeks to sell 7 bags. Enchants, only the haste enchants sell, and thats very very slow. Sinister gear no longer sells.

    1. You’ve covered most of the bases with those markets. Most of them will probably get a new wind when 8.2 drops. We are at a low point in terms of activity right now which means most markets are fairly slow.

      1. Well 8.2 needs to hurry up and release. I’ve got just enough gold for a couple months of sub time. What sucks is, I started using your material flipping thing 6 months ago. I had about 100k, topped out just over 600k before apparently everything went to crap. Now I’m almost broke again from markets that died.
