Next up on the list of TWW previews is Inscription! This profession has had significant differences in
Gear
Scribes get to craft epic off-hands and staffs again. Generally these were less popular slots for crafted gear in Dragonflight, and I expect the same in TWW. It does look like staves only take 1 spark this time around, which would make it more viable compared to 1-handers in Dragonflight.
Missives
Missives are necessary for everyone crafting epic gear or profession tools. They seem slightly more expensive this time around compared to Dragonflight, but it depends on early herb prices.
Vantus Rune
The vantus rune is back. This is a high volume low profit margin market where you need to have as much multicraft and resourcefulness as possible alongside ingenunity and skill to get value out of your concentration.
Treatises
Treatises are once again BoP, so you can only sell these through crafting orders. Luckily public orders will now require all materials, and there’s no artisan’s acuity needed. This should lead treatises to being a consistent amount of small gold from public orders. You can also get the ability to get an extra knowledge by taking the generic tree first for inscription.
Darkmoon cards
Darkmoon cards have been a staple for inscription, but in TWW you can no longer really craft cards. The main source of cards is world drops and fishing, with the ability to get more cards for scribes. There is a way to turn cards from one deck into another deck, which may be profitable, particularly if you get the epic reagent bag that gives you a chance to proc extra cards. There’s also the ability to turn the decks into an embellishment with the same passive effect. If they are tuned to be a large buff then these will be popular, but I’m unsure how much profit we will see. They will be VERY expensive as they require an entire Darkmoon Deck to craft.
Overall look
Inscription is overall looking weaker than Dragonflight to me. Ultimately you are lacking oomph items, although darkmoon card shuffling does have potential. Outside of that you have less options than most other professions in terms of different crafts which limits the profit potential.
