We continue the previews of professions in The War Within with Tailoring next on my haphazard list.
Dragonflight continues
Once again Blizzard is cleaving fairly close to the Dragonflight design decisions in The War Within. We are getting two types of cooldown cloth, spellthread for pants, epic gear and bags as the main features. The overall structure of the profession tree is also very similar with a gear tree, a cooldown cloth tree, one for specialty items and a generic one.
Only tailors can farm cloth?
The biggest change is the generic tree where the base node impacts the amount of cloth you get from drops. I haven’t confirmed it by testing, but the tooltip on cloth indicates that only tailors can farm cloth. This would be absolutely massive for farmers, and will likely make tailoring a must have for anyone doing mass mob farms.
Gear
In the gear area we are getting the usual mix of pre-embellished and customizable epics. These should be very popular with crafting orders as they were in Dragonflight. The embellished effects are once again looking extremely strong.
Cooldown cloth
Cooldown cloth was very good for alts in Dragonflight. With the increased emphasis on quality getting max quality cooldown bolts might be very profitable. Eventually in Dragonflight everyone stuck to q2 materials as inspiration meant skill past a certain point did not matter at all, but in The War Within it will. You can expect to farm quite a bit of knowledge on any tailors you have for this purpose.
New bags
One of the most interesting new things are epic profession specific bags. These have unique equip effects that will impact your profession. The alchemy one for instance increases your chance of discovering a new recipe by 1 %. The benefits are small, but they are looking useful, with the inscription one looking to be the most impactful one by far (5% chance of getting an extra darkmoon card). Managing your inventory will be very annoying if you have a crafter with two good bags as you will have to swap between them.
Overall thoughts
The main way to make gold with tailoring will be through crafting orders. Epic gear, Epic bags and profession equipment will be the top sellers more than likely, which requires you to stay active in the crafting order market. For more lazy approaches you might be able to utilize alt armies for cooldown cloth, but you will want to keep farming knowledge until 150 at least, so it isnt that lazy sadly.
