Make easy gold without leaving the Auction House (It will still work in Phase 2)!

Material flipping has traditionally been one of the best ways to start making gold on the auction house, and Season of Discovery is no different!

The basics

The basic idea is to take advantage of the fact that supply and demand for materials vary over time. One day a big time farmer posts a lot of ore, and it takes a long while to sell, so the price is gradually pushed down. Then the day after some guy comes to powerlevel blacksmithing and buys up a ton pushing the price back up. This happens across most materials in the game, with different rates of course, and we can take advantage of it by buying materials when they are cheap and then reposting at a higher price.

The best materials

This works best for items with a low deposit cost relative to the price. Typically enchanting dust is fantastic for this, as are herbs. That being said I have had success flipping a very wide variety of items. I just started up in SoD and I’ve already made 5g profit just from a chunk of soul dust I bought.

Phase 1 materials

In phase 1 you should only focus on materials that can both be farmed and are used in significant quantities. I’ve gone through and added all of the ones to a TSM setup you can get below. I did not do every herb available, so if you want to add some more of those you can simply create another sub group.

Buying materials

The most important aspect of doing this is to find materials that are cheap. When doing a shopping scan with the TSM setup linked below you are looking for materials that show up below 100%, with the lower the percentage is the better. You also want to take a look at how many items are available between your purchase price and 125%, which is where the TSM setup will post your materials. The less the better, but for high volume items like enchanting dust it’s not a problem if there’s a lot of volume.

My results

I have not done much flipping yet, but just from a simple shopping scan yesterday and some sales today I have generated 5g 55s in profits, with chunk of materials left to sell. I even stuck some of the Firefin Snappers in the bank to just save for the future.

Tsm settings

My TSM settings for selling materials relies on selling in a nice variety of stack sizes, skewing as large as possible. Grab the setup and get to work!
