Firelands is rapidly approaching, so let’s take a quick loot at what the next phase of Cataclysm classic has in store for us!
New raid means renewed activity
With a new raid we will get more wipes and probably renewed activity as more players run more raids. The early weeks of a patch is always when the game is most active, and I expect Cata will not be different.
New recipes?
Another huge gold maker in patches are any new recipes that are particularly strong or important. Sadly, the Firelands patch is also fairly light on new recipes that have a huge impact. The top recipes you would want are stuff like new enchants, new consumables or high level gear. What we are getting is a bunch of crafted catch up gear at item level 378.
Dreamcloth
If you are a tailor you are in the best position to take advantage of the new recipes. They require dreamcloth, as well as living Embers, which drop from the raid. Sadly getting the recipes can be hard as they are all from the raid as well, but since the power level is not too high I expect the recipes will be available on the AH.
LW and Blacksmithing
The new leatherworking and blacksmithing recipes sadly require Chaos Orbs. This makes them a lot more annoying to craft, but if you are a tank or healer you can farm orbs fairly quickly with ZA/ZG skip runs and may be able to reserve them. That being said I don’t think the recipes have incredible value.
Stocking up on consumables?
The last thing you can consider is to stock up on items like consumables or gems. Usually in classic prices have not gone up significantly, but we can expect the sale rates to go up. If you are already active doing end game enchants then expect the sale rate to go up, so do look out for material deals, and don’t be afraid to stock more than you would usually do.
Dragon Soul
Dragon Soul on the horizon will likely shake it up a bit more with the final patch addition of epic gems, but until then the game will remain more or less the same
