up next on the alphabetical tour of Mists of Pandaria professions is enchanting!
Not shaking things up
Mists of Pandaria does generally not shake up things too much compared to Cataclysm profession-wise and enchanting is no exception. Enchants cover the exact same slots, with enchants for weapons, chest armor, bracers, gloves, boots and cloaks. In addition you will obviously have the ability to disenchant items to generate the necessary materials to craft the enchants.
Disenchanting shuffles
Generally speaking tailoring is the profession of choice for disenchanting shuffles. You want to craft the Windwool bracers and disenchant them en masse for the lower tier materials. There’s also an interesting possibility to craft some of the entry level epic items in the first patch to generate Sha Crystals when they are expensive. This was profitable with the engineering helmets in cataclysm, and depending on prices and spirit of harmony availability this can be an option. It may require the correct combination of professions though, so I doubt it will be truly scalable.
Unlocking recipes
The vast majority of enchanting recipes are learned from the trainer, with a few exceptions. The bracer enchants are from the August Celestials reputation, and some weapon enchants are from Shado-Pan reputation. I would strongly suggest focusing on these two early, in particular if you have a lot of time to no-life the reputation grind. Usually enchants aren’t wildly expensive pre-raid, but there will be less competition on these recipes.
Securing cheap materials
Usually enchanting is quite competitive so ensuring you have access to cheap materials is key. Look into enchanting shuffles continuously to make sure you have the cheapest dust and essences possible. There’s little differentiation on recipe unlocks, so being cheaper is how you can get a better profit margin than your competition.
