Today we are looking at the main Flask build for Alchemy to produce rank 3 flasks! This is a great build both for mains and alts and can work at a wide number of knowledge levels.
Alchemical chaos baby
The Flask of alchemical Chaos is the best flask for almost every spec in the game. The recipe calls for 8 of each of the uncommon herbs and has a recipe difficulty of 765. This makes it very hard to guarantee max quality (but not impossible). To get to the point where you can get quality 3 with concentration you will likely need 60-80 knowledge points, at least 30 in the fantastic flasks node as well as a good amount in the alchemical mastery node.
Continuing the build
After you have the setup for doing Q3 with concentration you have a choice to make, going for more skill to eventually guarantee q3 or going for multicraft and resourcefulness nodes to cut your costs. Skill will also cut your costs for crafting q3 with concentration, or increase the amount you can craft, so it is good in either situation. Getting enough skill to guarantee quality 3 will require putting 210 points into the Alchemical mastery tree, so even with the full Acuity shuffle (You swap through all the professions doing first crafts and weeklies so you get acuity for all possible knowledge gains every week, extremely expensive and time consuming) to get all the skill books early you will be time-gated by the weekly gains and guaranteed q3 is still weeks off.
Current profit
On EU right now we are looking at a 7000 price for rank 3 flasks. This is equal to a value of 30g per concentration for me with a relatively casual setup for a main crafter. If you are doing this on an alt the setup time is slower as you will need to experiment for recipes. If you have gold it can be worth prioritizing the Alchemical mastery node to unlock formulated courage, that way you can spam more wild experimentation so you can unlock all the recipes ASAP and thus get more knowledge points.
Profession tools
Multicraft or Ingenuity are both good options and technically have a similar effect. Multicraft is a little better as you get more flasks for the same cost, whereas ingenuity allows you to craft more, requiring more materials.
Low cost q2 build?
A low cost q2 build can also be something to look into. For that you would max out Fantastic flasks and the spillover. The goal will be to maximize multicraft and resourcefulness and spam out q2 flasks with the cheapest combination possible. I think this build will only work if you have absolutely maxed out your knowledge and acuity and you have full rare q5 tools as the margins are thinner.
Hey, I’ve been watching your videos related to SOD and wanted to know how to adjust my min profit amount operation to account for alchemy procs. I have a group for items that will always give (at least) 2 instead of 1 potion so I was thinking the operation should account for profit even being negative but still profitable if you get 2 potions. Any ideas?
Thanks for the knowledge and videos!
