Today we are looking at the last profession in Mists of Pandaria with Tailoring!
Gear, spellthread and a bag
As far as what you can craft in MoP, it will be gear, spellthread enchants and a new bag, the royal satchel. High end gear, spellthreads and the bag all require Imperial silk, which is Bind on Pickup. This is the new cooldown cloth that you can craft once a day.
Gear
There’s two main groups of gear you can craft in the first phase. You have the entry level PvP set with Contender’s, and then there are the BoE epics. The entry level PvP gear is sold by the recipe vendor and each recipe will set you back a Spirit of Harmony. For the Epic recipes you need to get to honored with the Golden Lotus. All the epic recipes cost Imperial silk to craft, so you will be limited by your daily cooldowns or your Spirit of harmony farming.
Spellthread
Spellthread is also based on Imperial Silk. The BiS rare spellthreads will cost you 1 Imperial silk. As this is BoP you will have to choose what you craft with your imperial silk. Spellthread should have quite attractive profit margins with the Imperial silk setup.
Harmony farming or alts
Aside from entry level PvP gear all relevant crafts for tailoring require Imperial Silk. This means you essentially have two options, farm for harmony on a dedicated character to mass craft, or get a bunch of alts with tailoring to do the daily cooldown on. If you want to mass craft the epic gear I think a spirit farming setup is quite good as you need reputation and to level the character. For an alt army setup I think focusing on spellthread is the play, as you get the recipe from trainers, so you can just turn cloth into silk into spellthread once a day per character.
looking ahead
As with other professions there are more BoP daily cooldown materials coming that will be used for epic crafts down the line. Tailoring is looking good for alts for this reason, so keeping some tailors on tap can be quite valuable.
