Low cost goldmaking: Blacksmithing mount enhancements

Today I will take a look at some of the other blacksmithing items that I have not covered, specifically the mount enhancement items.

The items

Monel-Hardened Stirrups and hoofplates

Blacksmiths in BfA have access to two mount enhancement items that are very useful. The Monel-Hardened Stirrups will give you a buff for two hours that allows you to interact while mounted in all BfA zones, while theHoofplates will give you a 20% buff to your mounted speed in the same zones. Their consumable nature and the usefulness of the buffs ensure players will always want these items.

Getting the recipes

The hoofplates has 3 ranks of recipe, whereas the stirrups only have a single rank. For the Hoofplates rank 1 and 2 are trained from the trainer at skill level 80 and 100 respectively. Rank 3 is a random drop from world creatures.

The stirrups recipe is also obtained from your trainer at skill level 80, and since it does not have any other ranks it is quite easy to get.

Materials needed

Both recipes rely on the same materials requiring Monelite Ore and Durable Flux. The Monelite Ore is of course obtained by mining and the main way to get it is to buy it from the Auction House unless you really like farming.

The durable flux is sold by blacksmithing vendors for 30 silver each.

Crafting them

The stirrups and hoofplates both stack to 200 so don’t be afraid to craft up a lot of them while you’re at it. I suggest keeping a large stack on your banker at all times and just gradually posting them.

As always just keep your eyes open for good deals on Monelite Ore and don’t be afraid of large quantities if the price is right.

Posting to the auction house

Generally speaking I would favor posting these in stack sizes larger than one. I’m not sure what the ideal stack size is, so the setup includes setting for stacks of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 as I think all of those can be relevant. I suggest testing it out for a while before scaling up the quantity of whichever stack size works best on your realm.

Now go make some!
