Cataclysm is approaching it’s end with the Dragon Soul raid buff scaling up, so it’s time to look ahead to Mists of Pandaria.
I have experience
I actually did quite a bit of goldmaking in the original Mists of Pandaria, so this expansion will feel right at home to me. There’s a LOT of good profession recipes, and many of them within my preferred niches. We won’t be going in depth on professions today, but rather cover some things related to needing to go deep on a character with reputation and leveling versus stuff that can work across a variety of alts.
You need to get into Pandaria
For the most part you will need to get into pandaria to get access to Pandaria crafting. The trainers are all in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms.
Spirits of Harmony
The BoP crafting material makes it’s return, but this time it’s not from dungeons, but you get it from all mobs and all gathering nodes. The most efficient way to farm Motes of Harmony I don’t actually know, but it will either be some mass farm or gathering. They are used for a lot of recipes, and can also be traded for materials. Luckily you can utilize the farm in halfhill to farm spirits of harmony. Since these are very limited outside of this, this can be the best choice by far on any alts you have that can utilize the spirits (such as transmute specced alchemists).
PvP Gear is back
PvP gear is still a great niche and will work well in Pandaria. Spirits of Harmony is used as the currency to unlock these recipes in the first patch, but in later patches the recipes come as discoveries from cooldowns. Farming some spirits early will thus be very valuable!
Tons of vanity items
Mists of Pandaria adds a ton of expensive crafted items including mounts with very expensive vendor materials. Some of the recipes are locked behind long reputation grinds, which brings the profit margin for early birds up tremendously. The most famous ones early are the panthers from the Order of the Cloud Serpent, and later on we will get the Sky Golem, which also lets you herb while mounted.
Sky golem alts
Honestly this mount may deserve it’s own section. To get the recipe you need to kill mobs in the corrupted vale in the last patch of Mists. The Schematics will then let you craft a Jard’s peculiar energy source on a daily cooldown. You need 30 of them to craft the mount and they are BoP, but the finished mount is usable by anyone. Since the cooldown is daily the value of multiple engineers is VERY high. The time commitment is very low and there are also other daily cooldowns in 5.4 on a lot of professions, so preparing some alts for this ahead of time can be VERY profitable. Earlier in the expansion you can utilize alts for transmutes as well as for the halfhill farm, while preparing engineering for the end-game.
