With a new patch I’m sure many of you are coming back into WoW, so today I’ll take you through my personal goldmaking activities. They are not hyper-optimized and I would HIGHLY encourage you to extend them based on your preferences.
Flipping
I have recently restarted doing multi realm battle pet flipping on five realms. I quit doing a while ago as I got burned out. I scaled down the number of realms to five, whcih makes it take a lot less time, which helps make it manageable. Every time I log in I make sure I repost all my expired auctions. I post for 48 hours and repost them every 3-5 days depending on when I have time. Every second or third time I log in I will also do some shopping searches for more deals as well as move pets around to using the journal. Sales are slowly ramping up, and it’s quite a lazy market as you can do a lot of it on auto-pilot once you have the initial setup done, but it will take you a while to build up a stockpile of pets to sell.
Midnight professions: Concentration crafting
For Midnight pfoessions I am still only doing concentration crafting. I will probably be able to max out some of my crafters in 12.1 to the point where I can do mass crafting, so I may look into that. My main plan of action however has been to utilize concentration alts. I have 12 different level 80 characters that I use the concentration on. With the season beginning I try to avoid overcapping concentration, so I will check craftsim every day to see if any characters are close to overcapping. Outside of that I try to do the weekly quests and treatises on wednesdays, as well as going through all the patron orders that are profitable.
The concentration routine
For the actual concentration crafting I will open the profession window and then run the recipe scan in CraftSim. This will check the profit of all recipes, including the concentration value. Usually I will then craft the highest concentration value recipe. I typically just buy enough materials to craft it directly as I have the long boi mount. I mostly buy materials with the base UI, but you could use a crafting queue setup with TSM. Some cheaper materials I use a lot of I will buy in large quantities like Tranquility bloom, but I like to keep my stockpile of more expensive materials low to reduce the risk I take. (petrified roots for instance).
Once I’ve crafted the items I usually just throw them up directly on the AH with the crafter. Since I have to check each character regularly anyway and every time I log in I do patron orders I will have to hit the mailbox anyway, so the value of a bank-alt is smaller. If I was doing more mass-crafting setups or setups where you do a big crafting session that you don’t have to repeat for a week then a bank-alt setup for auctioning would save me a lot of time and be more efficient.
TSM vs. base UI
I use the base UI a lot for my concentration setup, mostly because I have to do a little bit of activity on every character every day. Usually every auction I post after a concentration craft sells instantly, so centralizing the items to post from one character using TSM is less relevant. The profit margins are also typically so high I don’t really have to think about pricing for concentration crafts. This has lead me to just use craftSim together with the base UI. For other markets like crafted transmog or flipping I still rely heavily on TSM as the number of items makes it a necessity to keep track of everything.
