Shadowlands goldmaking: Alchemy gold guide

With raids opening up Alchemy made a predictable comeback into profitable territory. Let’s take a look at the best recipes this time around.

Alchemy basics

Alchemy is usually one of the better goldmaking professions as you craft something that is consumed whenever it is used. Players don’t buy a flask and are done, they need more flasks every week to keep raiding at a high level.

This means your long term sale rate is fantastic, and you will never run out of customers.

Two strategies

Right now there are two options for playing with Alchemy. If you have deep pockets you can craft volumes of combat potions and flasks. These are quite expensive, and you will have to be able to buy larger quantities of cheap herbs whenever you can find them to sustain a profit.

If you don’t have that much gold, you can focus on some of the cheaper volume consumables like healing potions and the weapon oils.

Potions and flasks

Flasks are super simple this time around and it is the same mainstat flask for everyone. This is going to be a pure volume market where you need to find herbs at strong prices. I suggest using trade to look for suppliers, but they will mostly only be interested if you actually buy large volumes. For flasks you need Nightshade and all of the zone specific herbs, so the overall cost is high.

Potions use the various zone-specific herbs in different quantities. The main stat potions as well as some of the more exotic effect damage ones are all useful, with main stat being best in cleave and some of the others taking the lead in single target.

High volume is king

To make money with these you will want to generate large volumes both in terms of purchasing herbs and sales. Heavy reposting will often be a necessary tactic to get the sales, at least at the volume you will need to make significant gold.

Low capital oils

For those of you with less gold on hand the weapon oils and healing potions are great recipes. They each require just two death Blossom, which is abundant and not really used in any other alchemy craft. Both items sell really quickly as they are cheap and useful. This is pretty much the perfect entry level market, even if the profit per item is not particularly high.

TSM settings

The TSM setup includes crafting operations for most of the items. It also contains auctioning operations for posting them. I suggest adapting the quantities for both auctioning and crafting operations as you see what works and what is needed. The right quantity depends on your realm and your posting pattern, and you will have to find it yourself.
