Finally, some new recipes to take advantage of! Mists Classic Phase 3 gold guide!

Throne of Thunder has finally gotten a release date and we are thundering into the next phase of MoP Classic. So let’s see what it has in stor for us when it comes to profits!

New recipes!

Finally we are getting a substantial amount of new recipes. The main recipes we are getting is an entirely new set of catch up PvP gear alongside new PvE epic recipes. The three armour crafting professions are the main focus and it’s Leatherworking, blacksmithing and Tailoring who gets the new recipes. The new recipes are generally unlocked by crafting the daily cooldown item associated with each profession. Imperial Silk already exists for Tailors, for the other professions we get new recipes.

Blacksmithing

Blacksmithing requires you to be level 90 to take advantage of the new recipes. You need to go to the Isle of Thunder and do a questline to unlock the recipe for Lightning Steel Ingots. These are BoP ingots on a daily cooldown used to craft new weapons. When you craft an ingot you will also learn a random recipe between the PvP catch up pieces and the new PvE epics. The new epics require Haunting Spirits from Throne of Thunder and the PvP recipes rely on Ghost Iron. There’s a total of 36 new recipes, so it will take a while to learn them all.

Leatherworking

Leatherworkers get a new daily cooldown for crafting Magnificent hides. You can choose between one that requires 20 mist-touched leather and one that requires 20 Primatic scales. The magnificent hides are used for all of the new LW recipes and will be a cornerstone of the leatherworking economy. Leatherworkers have a total of 82 new recipes, 74 PvP recipes and 8 PvE ones. The recipe for the daily cooldown can drop from any Pandaria mob, so just run your 85 Leatherworker to pandaria and start killing mobs and you should get it quite quick. With the large number of recipes leatherworking makes a lot of sense as a duplicate profession to speed up unlocks.

Tailoring

Tailors already have a cooldown item in Imperial Silk and they get to keep it into Phase 3. You will have to keep flying to the Valley of the four winds once a day to craft one. For tailors there are 40 recipes to learn with the daily cooldown, so slightly more than Blacksmiths, but substantially less than leatherworkers. The PvP gear just requires regular windool cloth bolts, but at slightly higher quantities than the contender gear.

Haunting Spirits

All of the new epic recipes require Haunting Spirits. These are obtained from disenchanting Throne of Thunder gear. I expect prices will start very high, but as more gear gets disenchanted this market will be available even for pure AH crafters. The item level is a significant upgrade over current gear, and it will keep a useful niche for a long time for gearing new characters or improving your setup.

Don’t sleep on the PvP gear

As my 30 days to a token challenge showed even now late in a patch the PvP catch up gear sells really well. With the cooldown based unlocking of new recipes competition will be a lot lower for a while so average profit margins should be higher. These recipes were very profitable back in original Mists and they should be so again.
