I got to a token in 14 days! 30 days to a token challenge COMPLETED

A week ago I finished the 30 days to a token challenge! It only took me 14 days this time, so let’s do a dive on how I did it!

Gold gain accelerated, but went in bursts

If we look at my TSM gold graph we can see that in general my gold gains accelerated as time went on. We can also see that as I got enough gold to stock up heavily I essentially made most of my gold in two very large spikes over two 2 day periods. This is around Sunday and Wednesday as two of the biggest raid nights. As I made a LOT of my gold with potions my gold gains were heavily concentrated on times where potions were selling well and I had time to repost.

Lower sales than expected

Overall I just got 111 000 gold in sales. This is a lot less than I expected I would need. My actual profit margin has been a lot higher than usual. This is particularly true for potions where I have spent about 40 000 gold on potions and sold potions worth 65 000 gold. That is an absolutely MASSIVE average profit margin, and something I’ve not often seen in potions. Blacksmithing has also had a very high profit margin with med spending 10k on ghost iron and trillium and earning 23 000 gold selling the items I crafted. This number has been propped up a bit by masterwork weapons, but even without them the average margin on contender gear is very high. I also did do some raw gold farming, which accounted for about 8000 gold.

Volume is the name of the game

I had to sell 20 000 items to get to a token. This is certainly a lot and I spent a lot of my time in Ironforge running between the AH, mailbox and supply vendors. My time spent ended up at 1 day 15 hours played at max level, which averages to just over 2.5 hours per day. The first week I was over 3 hours, but then I scaled a bit back as I got within sight of the finish line.

I stopped scaling

As I’m ending the challenge I essentially don’t have stock left over. It would be a lot better to keep going for another week so I could sustain large restocking sessions, but I obviously have a lot more gold on the realm, so there’s not much point.

Potions swings are wild

Potion and herb prices are incredibly volatile. I have been very surprised at how large the price swings have been, with Silkweed going from 1.5g to 4 gold at times and potion prices varying from 2.5g up to 5g+. I ended up adapting to this by buying loads of herbs when they were cheap and putting up a ton of potions 24 hours before big reset days. I’m planning another video to go more in depth on this as it was very interesting.
