The War Within is coming and it’s time to look at professions. For an overview of the changes to overall systems I’ll refer to my previous video.
No beta
I don’t have beta access, so this is based on wowhead recipe lists and profession trees.
Gems
Overall jewelcrafting is very similar to Dragonflight in terms of what we can craft. There are a bunch of rare gems that give you two different secondaries, as well as some epic gems that give you primary stats as well as extra effects. They are more similar to meta gems from previous versions of wow, with various cool extra effects. These are not BoP at the moment, so you can make these for the region wide AH.
Profession gear
Jewelcrafters will again craft profession gear. It’s BoP like it was in Dragonflight, but as far as I can tell from wowhead, there’s no high artisan’s mettle cost this time around, so you can get these much easier than in Dragonflight.
Epic gear
As in Dragonflight we get two recipes for rings and two for necklaces. In both cases they either come pre-embellished with an effect, or they are without a unique effect. Tuning will decide which version is most valuable, but guaranteeing your preferred secondaries is usually pretty good, so these are a good bet for fairly popular crafted pieces for work orders.
The Knowledge tree
The gem portion of the tree is absolutely massive in TWW. If you want to specialize in gems it will take a LOT of points to maxe out multiple gem recipes. Maximizing skill will likely be massive for spending less concentration as I expect max quality will be big. This time this means maxing a specific end node for each rare gem recipe. The gem recipes are also gated by knowledge, so early on competition should be limited. On the other hand the gear portion of the tree is very shallow, and it will take just 100 knowledge to max out both rings and necklace skill. Prospecting and reagents has it’s own subtree which also requires quite a bit more in terms of points to max out.
Alts seem strong
having multiple jewelcrafters will allow you to get access to all the rare recipes, and more concentration significantly faster. I expect this will be the case for many professions, but for something that is usually very front loaded in prices like gems this seems even more significant.
