For a while there has been one concentration recipe that is head and shoulders above the rest. Jewelcrafting is another fantastic concentration profession and it is currently competing with enchanting for the top spot.
Jewelcrafting basics
Jewelcrafting has multiple interesting ways to specialize as you can craft a good number of different items. Firstly you can prospect ore to get gems and then crush those gems to get gemdust. Gems are quite expensive, so this can be very good if prices are favorable, but margins are often low.
Then you can craft gems, the special item type only jewelcrafters can craft. Everyone wants to put these int heir sockets, and with the raid and season out they are generally very valuable.
In addition you can craft some crafting materials in the Kaleidoscopic Prism, Lenses and vials for alchemists.
In the gear section you can craft some profession equipment, as well as necklaces and rings in both rare and epic variants.
Prospecting
For prospecting you need a good spreadsheet to know your profits. I have not made one yet, but I use Kaychack’s profession sheet. Margins are often low, and with next week you can get the epic profession tool, so you will need that to be competitive, as resourcefulness is VERY important. For the build you need to max resourcefulness as well as the skill nodes in Proficient processor.
Concentration
The concentration build for jewelcrafting is VERY good. The kaleidoscopic prism is all the way up at 38 gold concentration value on one of my alchemists that only has the rare profession tool and I havent even collected all the one-time treasures. The gems are also very good with concentration values at 20 gold on the same value. You learn the prism from your trainers and most of the gem recipes from the Gem tree, so you can go into that once you’ve maxed out all of thoughtful throughput nodes.
Multicraft is obviously the stat of choice here as all of these items can multicraft, and it does have a significant effect on your profits.
Profession tools and gear
If you wanted to focus on profession tools and gear they are in the same small tree so you can quite easily combine those. I would go skill first and then resourcefulness last, and I would probably prefer maxing all the +skill nodes first as you can then craft them all at max quality and get orders. I don’t like spamming for orders, but it can be very good, particularly with how expensive the materials are so resourcefulness procs will yield a lot of gold. You want a full resourcefulness tool for this build.
